Weekly Reflection Summary
Day 17 - 13 November, 2023
There were no allotted classes for the day. I engaged in several substitution classes:
- 3rd hour: Substituted for Giggy teacher (Basic Science) in 6D.
- 5th hour: Substituted in 5D for Reading.
- 6th hour: Substituted for Renjitha teacher (English) in 6L, where I played chess with the students.
- 7th hour: Assisted in PT hour in 9Q on the ground.
Day 18 - 14 November, 2023
Started with morning main gate line duty. The school organized a Children’s Day rally.
In the 3rd hour, I taught Physics in 8Q on "Magnetism," focusing on "Permeability." I demonstrated permeability using bar magnets, iron nuts, and iron filings, with the blackboard as a visual aid. Students gained a clear understanding of permeability and its applications.
In the 4th hour, I conducted a Chemistry class in 9C1 on "Acids, Bases & Salts," covering "Reaction of Acids with Carbonates" and "Basicity & Properties of Acids." I used the blackboard, video, and presentation along with dil. HCl and litmus paper. With Preetha teacher’s help, the class effectively understood the concepts of acidity and reactions with carbonates.
In the 7th hour, I taught Physics in 9Q on "Work, Energy & Power," focusing on the "Work-Energy Principle & Potential Energy." I used mass bodies, springs, and rubber bands as material aids, and the blackboard and presentation for visual aids. The students grasped the principles of energy and its types, and the work-energy principle and its applications.
Day 19 - 15 November, 2023
The day began with morning main gate line duty. I substituted in several classes:
- 3rd & 4th hour: Substituted in 6Q for Work Experience and English (Rosemary Sr.).
- 5th & 6th hour: Substituted in 6T for Hindi (Preetha teacher) and English (Rosemary Sr.).
- Ended the day with evening line duty.
Day 20 - 16 November, 2023
Started with morning main gate line duty. In the 2nd period, I taught Physics in 9Q on "Work, Energy & Power," focusing on "Conservation of Energy." Neena teacher and Prince Sir observed my class. I used mass bodies, a meter scale, a marker, and the blackboard and presentation. The lesson covered energy conversions in various devices, and students were able to distinguish between different energy conversions and understand the law of conservation of energy.
I also substituted:
- 3rd hour: In 9X.
- 5th hour: In 8H.
- 6th hour: In 6T for Hindi (Preetha teacher).
Day 21 - 17 November, 2023
Started with morning main gate line duty. In the 1st and 2nd hours, I taught Physics in 8Q on "Reflection of Light in Spherical Mirrors," focusing on "Spherical Mirrors" and the "Focus & Focal Length of Spherical Mirrors." I used plane mirrors, convex and concave mirrors, a laser torch, and a protractor as material aids, along with the blackboard and presentation. Students received a thorough introduction to optics.
In the 4th period, I taught Chemistry in 9C1 on "Acids, Bases & Salts," covering "Acid Rain." I used the blackboard, presentation, and dil. HCl, H2SO4, HNO3, and litmus paper as material aids. The class effectively understood the causes, consequences, and mitigation measures for acid rain.
Overall Reflection: This week involved a mix of direct teaching, substitutions, and administrative duties. Key highlights included hands-on demonstrations in Physics and Chemistry, as well as engaging with students through various activities. Observations from teachers provided valuable feedback, and the ability to cover diverse topics effectively contributed to a meaningful teaching experience. The practical demonstrations and substitutions enriched the overall experience, offering insights into both subject matter and school operations.
