Weekly Reflection Summary
Day 8 - 01 November, 2023
The day began with main gate line duty. There were no allotted class hours, as the school was engaged in Kerala Piravi celebrations. In the afternoon, I took on paper collection duty for the HS exam.
Day 9 - 02 November, 2023
Started the day with morning main gate line duty. In the 2nd period, I conducted a Physics class in 9Q with 43 students. We revised the chapter on "Gravitation," addressing questions from their test papers. I then introduced the chapter on "Work, Energy & Power," focusing on the concept of "work." The lesson helped students understand the scientific concept of work and analyze situations where work is done.
Day 10 - 03 November, 2023
The day began with morning main gate line duty. I taught a Physics class in the 1st period for 8Q on "Magnetism," specifically "Earth as a Magnetic Field." I used the blackboard, PHET simulation "Magnet & Compass," and material aids like bar magnets and magnetic compasses. The class provided students with an understanding of Earth's magnetic field and the comparison of its magnetic poles to its geometric poles.
In the 4th period, I conducted a Chemistry class in 9C1 on "Periodic Trends in the Periodic Table," using the UBUNTU educational application "Kalzium," the blackboard, and ICT-oriented activities. I also demonstrated colored compounds made with transition metals.
During the 7th hour, I conducted a substitution class in 9Y. The day ended with line duty.
Day 11 - 04 November, 2023
With Saturday's timetable, I started the day with main gate line duty. In the 3rd period, I taught Physics to 8Q on "Magnetism," focusing on "Magnetic Flux Density." I utilized the blackboard, magnetic compass, bar magnets, iron filings, horseshoe magnets, and needles. The class included practical demonstrations of magnetic fields using iron filings, providing a hands-on learning experience. Test paper answer sheets were distributed.
In the 4th period, I taught Chemistry in 9C1 on "Ionization Energy, Metallic Character, Electronegativity, & Electropositivity." I used the blackboard and UBUNTU software "KALZIUM" as aids. The lesson helped students understand these concepts and their variations along groups and periods in the periodic table.
In the afternoon, I participated in preparing the stock register for chemistry equipment and chemicals in the science lab with Priyanka.
Overall Reflection: This week was diverse, with a mix of teaching, practical demonstrations, and administrative duties. From addressing test questions and introducing new topics to engaging in hands-on demonstrations and administrative tasks, the experiences contributed to a well-rounded teaching practice. The opportunities to handle practical demonstrations and engage in school activities provided valuable insights into both teaching and administrative aspects of school life.
