WEEK 6 - Teaching Practice St. John's Model HSS Nalanchira

Daily Reflection Summary

Day 24 - 17 July, 2024

Today's focus was on revising the methods of separation of mixtures in the Chemistry class for 8A. I reviewed various techniques with the students, reinforcing their understanding of practical separation methods and ensuring they could differentiate between them effectively.

Day 25 - 18 July, 2024

I began the day substituting in Chemistry for the 1st hour at 8A, introducing the 2nd chapter after the Moral class. In the 2nd hour, I taught "Elements & Compounds" from the chapter "Basic Constituents of Matter." Neena teacher observed the class, where I used ICT tools to explain the topic. I demonstrated the conversion of sugar into its elements (carbon) and the compound (H2O) by burning sugar with a spirit lamp, which visually reinforced the concept. This hands-on demonstration helped clarify the distinction between elements and compounds. In the 3rd hour, I substituted for PT.

Day 26 - 19 July, 2024

The day started with participating in the Ivano quiz, which was a good break from routine teaching. Later, I substituted a Physics class in 9B, focusing on "Position-Time Graphs" within the chapter "Equations of Motion." I employed ICT tools and graph paper to assist students in creating and interpreting these graphs, making the abstract concept more tangible. Finally, I revised and completed notes on "Refraction of Light" in a Physics class, ensuring that all students had a thorough understanding of the topic.

Throughout these days, I focused on reinforcing core concepts with practical demonstrations and ICT integration. Observations and feedback from Neena teacher were valuable for refining my teaching methods, especially in enhancing student engagement and understanding of complex topics.
