WEEK 8 - Teaching Practice St. John's Model HSS Nalanchira

Daily Reflection Summary

Day 31 - 29 July, 2024

In today's teaching practice, I substituted for a Chemistry class during the 6th hour at 8A, where I assisted students in brainstorming ideas for the Young Innovators Program (YIP). This session aimed to inspire creativity and encourage students to think critically about their project ideas.

Later, in the 7th hour, I conducted a Chemistry class focused on the "Basic Constituents of Matter," specifically the "Origin of Names of Elements." I utilized ICT tools to deliver the content effectively, integrating multimedia resources to enhance student engagement and understanding.

Day 32 - 30 July, 2024

I substituted for Physics classes at 9B during the 1st and 6th hours. During these periods, I administered a diagnostic test using OMR sheets. This test was designed to assess students' understanding and identify areas that needed further review.

Additionally, I was involved with an innovative model called Little Kites, which focuses on Robotics classes. This initiative provided students with hands-on experience in robotics, fostering practical skills and problem-solving abilities.

Day 33 - 31 July, 2024

The final day of my teaching practice was dedicated to continuing with the Little Kites Robotics classes. This session allowed students to apply their knowledge in a practical setting, enhancing their learning experience through interactive and innovative methods.

As this was the last day of my teaching practice, it provided an opportunity to reflect on the progress made over the past weeks, the impact of various teaching methods, and the overall development of the students. The integration of innovative models like robotics has been a rewarding addition, contributing to a more engaging and effective teaching experience.

WEEK 7 - Teaching Practice St. John's Model HSS Nalanchira

Daily Reflection Summary

Day 27 - 22 July, 2024

Today, I substituted for a Physics class at 9B during the 3rd hour, focusing on "Plotting Position-Time Graphs" from the "Equations of Motion" chapter. I used ICT tools to present the topic, and graph paper was utilized to help students physically plot the graphs. This hands-on approach aimed to make the concept of graphing more concrete and understandable for the students.

Day 28 - 23 July, 2024

I substituted a Physics class at 9B during the 2nd hour, where we revised and practiced plotting position-time graphs. The class was interactive, with students applying their understanding by creating and analyzing their graphs. Following the class, I was assigned exam duty for the Achievement Test for 9B, overseeing the examination process and ensuring a smooth procedure.

Day 29 - 26 July, 2024

During the 6th hour at 9B, I conducted remedial teaching in Physics. The session focused on addressing specific areas where students had struggled, providing additional support and clarification to reinforce their understanding of the topics covered.

Day 30 - 27 July, 2024

The day was dedicated to Art's Day, which was a break from regular teaching activities. This allowed students to engage in creative activities and exhibitions, providing a well-deserved diversion from their academic routine and promoting a well-rounded educational experience.

Overall, these days included a mix of substitution classes, remedial teaching, and special events. The focus on practical applications and student support, combined with the Art's Day celebration, provided a balanced and enriching experience for both students and myself.
