Weekly Reflection Summary
Day 1 - 03 October, 2023
The day began with a warm reception from the HM, Rani teacher, and Principal, Fr. Nelson. My teaching practice started with a Physics class for 8Q (boys) during the 3rd period, where I was introduced by Prince Sir. Later, I conducted a Chemistry class for 9C1 (girls) during the 4th period, with Preetha teacher observing. I introduced the chapter on the periodic table, focusing on the history up to Newlands' law of octaves. I utilized presentations and the blackboard, aiming to help students appreciate the historical efforts in developing the periodic table.
In the 7th period, I taught Physics to 9Q (boys) about "Gravitation" and the "Universal Law of Gravitation." Prince Sir observed my class again. I employed ICT video resources, simulations, and the blackboard to facilitate understanding. The day concluded with line duty after handling the noon meal duty.
Day 2 - 05 October, 2023
I conducted a Physics class for 9Q (boys) during the 2nd period. The focus was on the "Force of gravity & Universal law of gravitation," including numerical problems. I used the “Gravity force lab” PHET simulation, an ICT-oriented quiz, and the blackboard. I provided individual attention to students working on problems, which helped in giving them a solid understanding of the Universal law of gravitation and its applications. After the noon meal duty, the day ended with line duty.
Day 3 - 06 October, 2023
I started with a Physics class in 8Q, introducing the chapter on "Magnetism" with a focus on "Natural & artificial magnets." I used a presentation, the blackboard, and disc magnets as material aids, which seemed to help students understand the types of magnets clearly.
In the 4th period, I conducted a Chemistry class for 9C1 on "Moseley's modern periodic table." I utilized the Ubuntu application "KALZIUM," the blackboard, and activity sheets to aid instruction. Preetha teacher observed my class, and I felt the modern periodic table was effectively introduced. The day included a substitution class with Sruthy (Natural Science) for 7M in the 6th period and ended with line duty.
Overall Reflection: This week provided a varied experience with opportunities to implement different teaching aids and strategies. From introducing fundamental concepts in Physics and Chemistry to utilizing ICT resources and engaging activities, I aimed to enhance student understanding and interaction. The consistent observation and feedback from mentors contributed to refining my teaching methods. The daily duties and line duties added to the overall experience, providing a comprehensive view of the school environment and responsibilities.
