Day 5 - Teaching practice (10 October, 2023)

Morning main gate line duty.

Physics class at 3rd period in 8Q. Chapter: "Magnetism" :: concept: ”Magnetic properties & magnetic compass” & provided notes. Used PHET simulation "Magnet & Compass", Blackboard, “Magnet & compass” PHET simulation as A-V aids & Bar magnets, Magnetic compass material aids. My Prince sir observed my class. My classmates, Priyanka(Physical Science) & Sruthy(Natural Science) were invited for the peer observation. Also, my Neena teacher (Physical Science, MTTC) observed my class. Overall it feels like, students got a clear idea about properties of magnet & magnetic compass. My Prince sir gave me confidence for taking class.

Chemistry class at 4th period in 9C1. Chapter: "Periodic table" & topic: Periodic trends in the periodic table". Used the UBUNTU Educational application "Kalzium", blackboard, & ICT oriented activities as A-V aids. My Preetha teacher observed my class. My classmate Priyanka(Physical Science) was invited for peer observation. Overall, it feels like students will be now able to write electronic configurations using atomic numbers & to write the group & periods of the element.

Had a Physics class at 7th hour in 9Q. Chapter: "Gravitation" :: on thetopic: "Acceleration due to Gravity". I used PHET simulation of "Spring & Masses", ICT-oriented activities, & Blackboard as A-V aids & mass bodies (Chalks, box) as Material aids. The class got a vibe as most were interested in the topic. The doubts went out of the topics due to curiosity. Students asked many "Why" questions as "Why do Helium-filled balloons rise up against gravity". Although my class went out of syllabus & topic, I was able to cover the designated topic within the time limit. Feels like, students got a clear idea about acceleration due to gravity & how it varies.
