Weekly Reflection Summary
Day 4 - 18 June, 2024
On the fourth day, I began with an additional class for 8D during the 1st hour, focusing on Physics. The topic covered was "Units & Measurements," specifically "Length," and was taught in Malayalam. This session aimed to reinforce the basic concepts of measurement for students in their native language.
Following that, I coordinated the biotechnology exhibition organized by Mar Ivanios College, Nalanchira, as part of the Young Innovators Program (YIP). This event was an opportunity to engage with innovative projects and promote scientific learning outside the classroom.
In the afternoon, I substituted for the 6th hour in 9B, where I continued with the chapter on "Refraction of Light." The focus was on "Activities on Refraction & Atmospheric Refraction." I demonstrated various refraction experiments and used edublogs to enhance the lesson. This combination of hands-on activities and digital resources aimed to deepen the students' understanding of light behavior in different atmospheric conditions.
Day 5 - 19 June, 2024
The fifth day was dedicated to Vayanadinam programmes, including a quiz competition. These activities were part of the broader school initiatives to foster literacy and engagement in various subjects.
In the afternoon, I substituted for the 7th hour in 9C, focusing on Physical Education (PT). This substitution provided a break from academic subjects and allowed students to engage in physical activities.
Day 6 - 20 June, 2024
The sixth day included a Physics class in 9B during the 7th hour, where the topic was "Total Internal Reflection" under the chapter "Refraction of Light." I utilized a fiber optic lamp for demonstrations and performed experiments to illustrate this concept. Edublogs were again used to supplement the teaching, providing a comprehensive understanding of how total internal reflection works and its practical applications.
Day 7 - 21 June, 2024
On Yoga Day, I participated in organizing and conducting Yoga sessions. This day highlighted the importance of physical wellness and mindfulness for both students and staff.
In the afternoon, I taught a Physics class in 9B during the 6th hour on the topic of "Mirage," part of the "Refraction of Light" chapter. The lesson was supplemented with edublogs, helping students understand how mirages occur due to the refraction of light.
Day 8 - 22 June, 2024 (Saturday with Monday’s timetable)
On this Saturday, I conducted a revision session for 9B during the 3rd and 4th hours, focusing on notes and physical training. This was followed by an additional Physics class for 8D in the 5th hour, covering "Units & Measurements" with a focus on "Mass," taught in Malayalam.
In the afternoon, I participated in Music Day programmes, which added a cultural dimension to the school’s activities. I concluded the day with a Chemistry class in 8A during the 7th hour, covering "Properties of Matter" with a focus on "States of Matter." I demonstrated that air has mass and volume, reinforcing the concept through practical examples.
Overall, this week was marked by a diverse range of activities, including additional classes, coordination of special events, and a focus on practical demonstrations and digital tools to enhance learning. The balance between academic instruction and extracurricular activities provided a well-rounded experience for both students and myself.
