WEEK - 1 Teaching Prctice @ St. John's Model HSS Nalanchira

Weekly Reflection Summary

Day 1 - 12 June, 2024

On the first day of the teaching practice, I had several substitution duties throughout the day. I covered classes for different subjects and grade levels: 10C during the 2nd hour, 9B during the 3rd hour, and 9D during the 4th hour. Each of these substitutions provided a brief opportunity to engage with various students and ensure that their lessons continued smoothly.

Day 2 - 13 June, 2024

The following day, I began with a substitution in 10A during the 2nd hour. Later, I taught a Physics class in 9B during the 7th hour. With 43 students present out of 48, the focus was on the chapter "Refraction of Light," specifically on the topic of "Optical Density." I demonstrated several refraction experiments to illustrate the concept and used edublogs as an additional teaching tool to reinforce the lesson. This combination of practical demonstrations and digital resources aimed to enhance the students' understanding of optical density.

Day 3 - 14 June, 2024

On the third day, I had another substitution class in 9D during the 4th hour. For my scheduled Physics class, which was during the 6th hour in 9B, I continued with the chapter "Refraction of Light," this time focusing on "Refractive Index." As with the previous lesson, I used refraction experiments to help students grasp the concept and incorporated edublogs for further explanation. The goal was to provide a thorough understanding of refractive index through both hands-on experience and digital resources.

Overall, this week was characterized by a balance of substitution duties and direct teaching. The focus on practical demonstrations in Physics classes and the integration of educational technology like edublogs were effective in engaging students and reinforcing their learning.
