Daily Reflection Summary
Day 9 - 24 June, 2024
On the ninth day, I started with a substitution Chemistry class during the 6th hour at 8A, focusing on the chapter "Properties of Matter," specifically on "Change of States." The lesson involved demonstrating various states of matter and how they change from one state to another.
Following this, I conducted a Chemistry class during the 7th hour in the same class, continuing with the topic "Diffusion." I used practical demonstrations with inks and camphor to illustrate how diffusion occurs, helping students visualize this fundamental concept.
Day 10 - 25 June, 2024
The tenth day included several substitutions. I substituted for a Chemistry class during the 3rd hour at 8A, where the topic was "States of Matter." I used a model to help students understand the three states of matter: solid, liquid, and gas.
In the afternoon, I substituted for Physics classes during the 6th and 7th hours at 9B. The focus was on "Applications of Total Internal Reflections" within the chapter "Refraction of Light." I demonstrated experiments related to Total Internal Reflection (TIR), including road guide reflectors and TIR in right-angled prisms using a laser torch. I also constructed periscopes using right-angled prisms and showed how light travels through fiber optic cables. Edublogs were used to support the teaching, providing additional resources through the project website.
Day 11 - 26 June, 2024
On the eleventh day, I taught a Chemistry class during the 2nd hour at 8A, focusing on "Mixtures." Maya teacher observed the class and provided positive feedback on the students' active participation. I utilized ICT tools to present images and videos on various separation methods, enhancing the students' understanding of the topic.
In the 4th hour, I substituted in 9E, and during the 5th hour, I conducted a Physics class at 9B, continuing with the chapter on "Refraction of Light," specifically "Optical Density & Refractive Index." Again, I used edublogs to supplement the lesson with visual aids and explanations.
Day 12 - 27 June, 2024
The twelfth day involved a substitution in 9E during the 2nd period, where I showed refraction of light experiments. In the 3rd period, I revisited and revised key concepts with 9B students.
Later, I conducted a Physics class during the 7th hour at 9B, continuing with the chapter "Refraction of Light," focusing on "Refraction & Refractive Index." I used edublogs for teaching to reinforce the students' understanding.
Day 13 - 28 June, 2024
On the final day of this period, I substituted for Physics classes during the 6th and 7th hours at 9B. The focus was on "Experiments on Total Internal Reflections." I demonstrated TIR experiments using a semi-circular glass slab and measured angles of refraction and reflection with a protractor. Edublogs were again used to support the teaching. Neena teacher observed the class, noting some issues, which I will review and address in future sessions.
Overall, this period has been rich in hands-on demonstrations and the use of digital resources to support learning in both Chemistry and Physics. The feedback and observations from colleagues have been valuable for refining my teaching approach.
